I recall reading where someone mounted the HD Quest GPS which required cutting into the leather dash.  (Maybe I was dreaming...)  Do you have pictures?
HD pushes the unit designed to display through the 06 Radio Display which I am not interested in.  The HD Quest is (I believe) designed to plug into the harness within the faring (if you did not have the leather dash attachment).
I would like to avoid having power and Aux cords all over.  If mounting as designed for won't work on the CUSE then I will probably opt for the Garmin 2610 or 2720.  Last question... Will the audio from the GPS cut out/back any music playing on the 06 radio?

I have heard of lots of problems with the HD Quest docking system. I saw one photo on this site where someone had a shop cut and sew the dash pad so the mount would fit, but you then have to cut a large hole into the inside pannel of your faring. If you ever decide not to have the mount it will leave a big hole there.
From what I have read the docking system doesn't lock in very good to the GPS and it looses contact due to vibration which shuts down the GPS. It does come back on but it makes the display come and go a lot.
I would go with the Garmin 2720 or 2730 if you didn't already have XM radio. Then use one of several handelbar mounts that are out and have been shown here as well. If you use the cigarette plug with speaker the GPS audio will not interfere with radio but you may not hear it over radio and you should check for plug clearance when turning your bars. There is a hard wire kit that can be used too. I don't know if it will cut out the 2006 radio though. Mount .http://www.techmounts.com/products/index.php?page_function=detail&product_id=61

I used the Quest on a pror Electra Glide. Eveyone is right, the mount sucks, it does come ulocked from vibraion. I actually had a custom mounting lock plate milled with stainless steel which fixed that issue. It was a mojor PITA.
On my 07 SE Ultra, I tried my Garmin Quest 660 I normaly use in our auto. I used the window suction mount on the windsheld and also secured it with a teather in case suction came loose. Guess what, I've been on several hundred miles rides and the suction never has failed. Impressed and suprised me. The added bonus with this arrangment, no holes anywhere which is actually 3-holes not one, very portable, and MP3 music which actually sounds damn good.

The Garmin Nuvi is not water proof, so in rain your going to want to remove i quick, other than that, the unit works really good. On some of my tirps i programed the Harley Dealer locations in case i needed emergency service or maybe a t-shirt..

If you have one intended for you auto, try it on your Ultra.. You will get hooked.

Because the nuvi is not waterproof, I went with the Zumo 550.   I mounted mine on the right handlebar.   Factoryphil has the quest and has already had to have the mount replaced.   while they did it without issue it was down a week.  I would recommend not going with the Harley model and go with the Zumo, Nuvi, Streetpilot (poison of choice) and either use a custom mounting or use the hardware that comes with the unit.  The Zumo came with full accessories and I know myself, hogasm, and Firedood are all using it with no issues.

The dash pad is a PITA to deal with Rhino and I cut mine to install the Escort for HD and it required a 5/8 hole be drilled into the fairing.   If you remove the dash pad you have 2 each approx 3/8" holes in the middle of the dash.

Good luck which ever you choose.

 I'm the one who posted about the HD Quest and all the problems.  Since the fairing mount wouldn't fit with the dash pad, I had to take the pad off and have it modified at an upholstery shop.  Even then, though, I had problems with both the cradle and the GPS unit falling off!  The cradle kept falling off the fairing mount, and then when I put a pin through it, the GPS unit kept falling off the cradle   I finally gave up and took the whole unit back to the dealer and demanded my money back.  I did get my money back, but lost the money for the dash mod, plus the installation.  I HIGHLY recommend that you go with a Zumo 550 and use the techmount system.  It is not only more stable, but is easier to see and use.  Attached is a picture of my new Zumo unit mounted.  I used both systems, and really like the Zumo much better.  If you have any questions, let me know and I'll be glad to help.
