Turning on that light takes a little practice.  Regarding the "Huh?"...don't ask.  You don't have one in your leather tourpack...at least I don't think you do.

If your bike is an 05 and since you describe a bulb you don't have the newer LED light that the guys are referring to.  Those lights are switched by touching their center.

Your light doesn't have a manual switch.  So if it's dead and has power it's probably the positional switch built in that has failed.

A lot of those died.  Many actually died with the bulb on and ran batteries down.  Couple even started fires from the bulb being against something unfortunate.

Because of those problems there was a service bulletin.  Dealer was supposed to change them out for the LED light.  Dealer may have a tough time finding the old service bulletin at this point.  Worth a try though.  I did a quick look and didn't find it but perhaps Dood or someone else searchingly gifted will discover and link to it.

Found something.  Knew it was never a formal recall but didn't remember if it was under a tech bulletin or an even less formal customer satisfaction program.  Still didn't find a tech bulletin referenced.  This is the letter we got when the program was original though.  Might try printing this to show to your dealer when discussing it with them.

The new light was a running change during the model year.  The yellow bikes were the last ones produced that year and some of the bananas had the new lights at time of production.  Reds and greens didn't though.

I have one. Was fun figuring out how to turn it on the first time.
