As in the title, this is on an '09 FXDFSE ... I've been through the owner's manual a couple of times and just can not find this freakin' light anywhere.

Thanks!!

Looks like Cruise Control and/or ETMS.  Ever see it go GREEN or RED?

I've never seen it illuminate and I have the ETMS activate almost every day ... probably Cruise Control Indicator then? In any event, thanks for the reply!

It's the cruise and the idle control mgmt system (or whatever it's called that shuts down the rear cylinder when the engine is too hot).  Orange when cruise is on and green when it's activated.  Also, turning the throttle forward and holding it there, you'll see the light change from orange to green to activate the rear cylinder shut down.  That's the basics of it.

Scott, I have a 2010 CVO Street Glide and have the same indicator on my bike. If your at a stop turn your accelerator forward, you engine will operate on one cylinder. This keeps your bike cool while stopped. I found this out the hard way.

Since when does a Dyna have Cruise Control and Electronic Throttle Control?  Did I sleep right through a big change in "09?

If I read the first post correctly, this is a 2009 SE Fat Bob.  No cruise control standard or offered according to the information I have.  But that indicator on the speedo does in fact look exactly like the ones for cruise control on the Touring models.  Wonder if that means they have plans for the near future to add cruise to the Dyna line?

This is on a 2009 SE Fat Bob ... no cruise control and the heat management activates automatically at a specific temp. Rolling the throttle foward does not activate it.

:2vrolijk_21:    Exactly.  So that indicator won't actually do anything on your bike.  But the fact that they included it in the design tells me they have plans for the future, such as electronic throttle control and cruise just like they are doing with the 2011 Softy CVO.  I fully expect to see those items rolled out across the entire Softail and Dyna lines over the next couple years.  Once they do the ETC, the cruise is simple and cheap to add, and they will be able to charge a nice little premium for the option.

Either that Jerry or maybe they had  a surplus of those gauges in the parts bin?  :nixweiss:

I'd be more inclined to believe they already had these (gauges) and didn't want to pay extra to get gauges w/o them. Why pay more or get gauges that didn't have an option when you can buy bulk of gauges that do whether you use them (features) or not. :nixweiss:

Now the question is ... Should I use it to indicate that the CIWS is active or maybe an early warning system for a radar lock?

out of curiousity what bikes have the ability to roll forward on the throttle to activate the ETMS?  My 09 springer doesn't seem to do that, but maybe i'm doing somthing wrong.

Have you checked your owner's manual?  Surely the answer is within.
