It still amazes me that helmets don't seem to get stolen just sitting there on the bike, and I still worry about it regularly.  I see quite a few people just place them on the ground under their bike...and like I said, I'm amazed they don't get stolen.  I try to get mine in the tourpack if there's room, or I at least strap it down with a helmet net if I'm going to be away from the bike for any length of time.  I don't want it to be easy to walk away with it.

Or, if you are really slick, you lead your BSR to believe that it's the passenger's job to carry the helmets, so you don't get "helmet elbow" and risk your elbows locking up while you're riding.

Always try to ride with someone who has a tourpac that will lock your helmet away for you if in a high-risk area.  ;) Some of those full face helmets can get 'pricey'.  (and that seems to be the choice helmet for the whiskey-bike crowd, doesn't it?  :o har.  spyder

Why dont you just undo the saddlebag lock(dont take the lid off)and unhinge it just enough to feed your helmet strap into the gap near the lock and then shut the saddlebag lid and lock it, ok you have the helmet hanging outside your saddlebag but the helmet strap is wedged securely between the bag and the lid and is LOCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

Wow

I have never thought about locking my helmet. I figure if someone steals it, they probably needed it more then I did.

I put it on my seat.........................that's all I have ever done. :nixweiss:

I was thinking the same thing... somebody walking buy bumping up against the helmet or some nit wit trying to steal the helmet and causing more damage in the process. :bigcry:

I've  got one of those, but never use it. Too much trouble. I just end up hanging in on my right mirror or over the rider backrest. No one has bothered it----------yet. Been doing it for 7 yrs. I figure a helmet is usually fit to the person and needs to fit well,so it's not something too many people are going to steal, unless they are just being prcks.

...I agree, a real pain to use. I wish Harley made it so you didn't need the key to lock it, just unlock it.  Doc

Me and a bunch of buddies been doin this for years, NO probs at all, I figure my touratech zumo mount would be more attractive to steal(and all that is lockable), besides if it's parked next to someone with a helmet hung over their mirror or footpegs, guess who's gonna be lookin for a new helmet ;)

I ride with a half helmet, I used to use the rear brake peddle but found the hot pipe an issue so now I use the shift peddle. Never an issue, now with lowers its a little trickier to get it in there and out but it works well and is pretty much out of sight. My BSR seams to like hanging hers on the throttle. She will learn not to do that once it rains  ::)

I usually just set it on the seat, never thought to strap it thru the back rest on my Corbin solo seat, Great idea. :2vrolijk_21:

I use a rubber coated chain bicycle lock with a combination lock (no key to deal with). I am more concerned about someone knocking the helmet off the bike an onto the ground than theft. Works great for me. Just loop it through the backrest upright.

I put mine on the ground that way it can not fall.  I put it right in front of the left saddle bag.
