Lower Fairings
« on: March 02, 2006, 03:38:39 PM »

Wondering how many of you pulled the lowers off of your bike? I like the function now that it's a bit chilly, but I don't care for the look.

True, but I'm in SoCal where looks ARE everything.  ;D

Seriously, when it's cold enough to warrant them I can slap on a pair of chaps and get the same protection as the lower fairings provide. The only thing (I think) I lose is the small amount of extra space.

Each to his own, right? I like the way mine look. It's a big bike and the lowers just seem to go with it (IMHO). I plan to leave mine on all the time.  8-)

I take mine on and off all the time.  Only takes a few minutes.  I like the look both ways,  but here in So. Cal during the warm months it's just too much (they gotta go).  Love the glove boxes, great place to put the camera for Mrs.Beagle and keep a pack of smokes.  They're a must have for long trips....
To each his own........

I leave mines on. I like the look of the bike with them on, and I think since they are multi-colored they add to appearance of the bike. As has been stated though "each to there own". :)

You need to do what you like, I like the looks of them and the protection they give but they are awful warm in the summer. The vent door helps a bunch but still hot when you are stopped, still can't figure out why they make so much heat.  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I take mine on & off all the time. But for the most part they where off all last summer. I kinda missed the storage for my smokes, cd's and glasses...it's kinda nice to reach in there on the go. I like the look either way, it all depends on my mood or weather. I've even taken off the engine gaurds for a while, just for something different. That's what's nice about 'em you can change it around all the time.

Do whatever get's ya goin' [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Mine have come off, then back on several times. Always end up taking 'em off again. I like the extra foot room, the 103 likes the added wind, and the wife likes the added sparkle. Yep, to each their own!

One last question regarding the fairings: Have you been able to add foot pegs to the engine guard with the fairings? If so, which mounts did you use? I'd like to be able to stretch out a bit (I'm 6'2), but don't want to have to straddle the fairings (if re-installed) to be able to put my feet up.

I used the short angled HD mounts. I'm 5'11". They slightly wrap around the fairings and look nice.

Adjustable Highway Peg Mounting Kit Short Angled - 50924-03A   $99.95
Stealth Collection Footpeg Kit - 50359-04   $49.95
