If you add an amp to your bike, the dealer doesn't have to do anything regarding the installation.
The dealer may get involved if you add another pair of speakers (e.g. fairing lower speakers or tour pak speakers) and the HK radio may need to be hooked up to the digital technician to turn the "fader" control on. Some bikes already have the fader control activated. If you scroll through the audio controls (bass, treble, etc.) and "fader" is displayed, you already have the function and the dealer isn't needed; it it's not, you'd need the dealer to turn it on for you if you want that function for the extra pair of speakers. Interestingly, the SESG2 doesn't have a fader control even with the fairing lower speakers added to the bike. This seemed odd until the wiring diagram was examined and it shows all the speakers share the same output signals (left and right) from the amp, unlike the amps in the CVO RGU and CUSE6.
For a simple amp installation driving the fairing speakers, the dealer isn't needed.
