Rear tire change??

Just got back from a day ride and within 5 miles from home we got a flat on the rear. I made a couple calls and got the tire plugged and aired up to get home.

Question is,.. the hole was big enough that I could stick my little finger in. Should this tire be replaced or taken off and patched? Only 7,000 miles on the tire and it's in good shape other than the hole.

7,000 miles on it?  Replace it.  Not worth the safety risk and it's near due replacement anyway.

A hole that large and rear tire w/ that many miles; no doubt about it - get a new tire.

Replace it. If you don't the plug will start to spread apart the chords, resulting in a major problem possibly while you are going down the road.  Yuuuuukkk.

A lot of people have been getting 15,000 miles on the rear tires (09 and newer bikes).   180's
Mine is like new at 9,300 and my wife's has 13K and like new yet.

Mine was like new also.. the big thing I noticed once the tire was off the bike,.. Is the Tire is cupped. Dealers are replacing front tires because of cupping, but not rears.. what's up with that???

I believe the rears that have been cupped have been gotten free of charge for members on here.
