Price for used FXRG jacket?
« on: August 18, 2010, 04:14:10 PM »

There is a guy I know selling a size large FXRG leather jacket. He wants $250.00, it's 2 years old but in good condition. I would not pay the money HD is asking for them new so is this a decent deal?

Thanks

I would have no problem giving $250 if it was like new.  20% off is about the best you can do on new.

I have had my FXRG since 2003 & I wouldn't sell it for $250 even now.  It is a great jacket

Does anyone know if this will double as rain gear?

Absolutely. Both the leather and the nylon FXRG gear makes great raingear. The leather gets a bit heavier in heavy rain but still is excellent protection.

I too have an FXRG jacket only it's the perforated variety so no good for rain.  Hands down, it's the best piece of riding apparel I own and worth every penny I spent on it.

Ray.....let us know your thoughts on the jacket when you get it.  If you're not happy with it, you shouldn't have any problem getting your money back out of it.

I just bought the FXRG on ebay.  They changed the style last year, so it's all new.  But still made in china. :nixweiss:   I've got a couple sets of leather made in the good ol' USA and while they're both very nice, neither of them compare to this new FXRG.  Sad but true.

Apparently the guy I bought it from was a wicked heavy smoker so I used my odor kill products for hunting and aired it out under cover in the shade for a few weeks then I put it in a large plastic bag filled with Spruce tree branches.  I would rather have that Christmas Tree smell than the foul cigarette odor.  Actually, the jacket is a large and it's too tight for me, I can only wear it over an Underarmour type of long sleeve shirt.  So once it's cleaned and ready for use I will try to recoup my $250.00.  Real nice jacket though. I like the leather jackets that are tough but still maintains allot of flexibility. Harley sizes have to be the most inconsistent clothing articles going.  Sometimes I wear a medium, most times a large but on occasion I need a XLarge.  I'm 5'7" 185# and a large is too tight, what do these big guys wear?

Should know this week I hope.

JCZ,

Hope you like yours.  I can answer your question now! I got caught in some cold, wet and windy riding conditions the near Mt Washington area yesterday. Even in the freesing rain the jacket was just plain awesome. It is by far the best jacket I have ever owned. It so good I can't believe it came from HD.  I should have listened to the guys and purchased one years ago.  Purchasing a good used one off of e-bay or similar is the way to go for some.  $650 new is rather steep for me. Because of the heavy cigarette smoke I actually paid $150.00 with 2 pair of HD gloves. I do have to fix 2 small zippers but I have the parts.  Even at $400 used It would be a great value. Thanks for the advice guys.

I paid $225.00 on Ebay for one in like new condition.  Oh yeah plus shipping pretty close to 250.  I love it it vents really well, lots of pockets.  I cant figure what to do with the kidney belt it slides around when not in use, I took it off.  Let me know if you figure out something on that.
Thanks
