Last weekend I changed the fluid in a friends low profile shocks on his limited, put in 10w Amsoil Shock Therapy.  Made all the difference in the world, no bottoming out with just 15 lbs of air in the shocks.

Sklywag,

I guess I've not looked at my air shocks on my '09 SERG all that close, but I have read on some other threads that oil has come out the air lines when the shocks were off and laying down on the bench.

If I were to try this on my SERG air shocks, what is the procedure for draining and refilling of the shocks?

I have the complete touring service manual for '08 with the SE supplement and I've looked through both with some seriousness and I can't say I remember the shocks being serviceable.

If they are though, I would be very interested in trying your Amsoil process.  My wife is getting very tired of a few local roads we travel as they tar seams tend to be up just a bit and they bounce us pretty good; let alone real bumps or divots in the road.

Any information on this will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Just follow the link in the above post, that's what I did, make sure to go to the VTwin forum for the pictures.  A picture is worth a thousand words, or so someone said, maybe JC said that  :2vrolijk_21:

I did on 2009 serg . Went with suspension tech product.  No more air to adjust.  No bottoming out either.

I tried the low shocks on my '09, didn't like them, never could get them to satisfy my BSR.
Went to 440's on that bike, but, had a bottoming out problem when pulling a trailer......too much load for the HD springs.

I had Works build me some shocks for the '10, adjustable for solo, 2-up, loaded, pulling the trailer. On a trip as we speak, loaded, and the shocks ride like a Caddy!
BSR is happy, daddy is happy!

Noticed the past couple of weeks the front forks will need a LITTLE heavier oil, not as heavy as the SE oil, but, more than stock.

Just my observations on the new bike!

Yup, me.  Decided I'd have to try to deal with the bike being higher as I couldn't stand the poor ride with them bottoming all the time.  Huge difference.

Yes, I agree the ride wasn't the same. Glad I saved the originals....
