« on: August 24, 2010, 09:47:57 AM »

I'm 210-220 riding weight and have a '10 Ultra.  I'm borderline for the Standard or HD springs.  Any advice on what I should go with??

At about 10 pounds more than you I've ridden bikes with both.  I'd suggest getting the HD springs.  It's what on mine.

Especially if you're ever going to carry a passenger and/or load it up to tour.

Like plenty others on this site i am seriously considering changing my rear shocks to rid the back jarring uncomfortable ride on my 09SEUC i have read lots of threads on the subject and am happy to change but keep finding conflicting stories from excellent to `not good enough` confused.com i am.
can i ask why 440s not 940s ? Which to choose ?  I have to change but to what 220lbs single rider most of the time.
Never had the problem with standard Ultra or 08 SEUC

HELP

I'm roughly the same weight and ride solo most of the time.  With the stock air shocks riding 2 up we seamed to either bottom out or it was a very rough ride.  I really didn't have any issues riding solo with the standard air shocks.  I changed mine to make the wife happier.  I went with the 440's because that is what the guy at Progressive recommended to me.  I initially went with the standard springs but even cranked up all the way riding 2 up we still bottomed out.  I switched to the HD springs a few weeks ago and it's a very nice ride for me set at the softest setting.  If my wife comes with me I either leave them if it's just a short ride or turn them up 2-3 turns if it's a long ride.  Very happy with the 440's now with the HD springs.  Hope this helps.

HD springs. 215lbs plus all the junk in the tourpack and saddlebags add up .
