ECM Tuner Choices
« on: August 25, 2010, 02:55:25 AM »

Getting ready to drop the stage 1 on the 2011 FLHXSE2 CVO and I've decided on the Fullsac X-pipe B with Rinehart 4" slip-ons. I still have questions regarding which ECM tuner to go with. I installed the SERT on my last FLHR and was very happy with it, however I've been leaning towards using the new Power Commander 5. I'd appreciate everyone weighing in on their choice of tuner and why. Thanks.

I think most probably use the TTS super tuner.  No muss, no fuss. :2vrolijk_21:

I would stick with the TTS (SERT) I install Power Commander V (Power Commander certified installer) and the Fuel Pack in the shop all the time and have used it and the V&H Fuel pack on my own bikes.

I run the TTS on my SESG and have absolutely no issues or popping.

(My main issue is while they work, now you are introducing new points of potential failure. Our shops owner currently has removed the PCV from his bike after having fuel contamination issues. A lot of hassle to remove it all until the fuel system problem is isolated?)

With both of the other units I was never able to eliminate decel popping.

The Autotunes while the theory is good do not replace a good tuner. They are also limited by the base map and may take several tuning sessions to get in line.

Fullsac also has maps for the TTS and their products as they also recommend it.

Probably one of the tuffest personal calls good luck with the new Scoot!

I have the fullsac x-pipe and 4" rineharts on my 2010 SESG. I'm running the SE SUPER TUNER and have had very good luck with tuning the bike. Throttle response and fuel economy is good.

They wouldnt be any different than the 2010

With the new throttle body change new calibrations are necessary.

On the softail HD-Lan system even the cables will be new.

Steve's supposed to be working on this but I haven't heard what is going on in the past week or so. Did you hear anything on this and know the 2010 and 2011 calibrations were deemed to be the same?

No I do not have any new input you do not, Steve I am sure he will be doing some testing ASAP. The difference could be adjusted with Vtune.

For the sake of the original post it will not have an immediate impact especially on the PCV or Fuel Pak as they are less precise. Most of the maps used with them are divided into pre and post drive by wire. Then sorted by engine displacement, engine mods and Exhaust style. It is rare to find a map for these even close to the actual bulid unless it is a fairly stock bike.

Once again the big can of my ecm is better than yours has been opened... For the record had PCIII's on two different RKC's and currently running PCV on 09SEUC. No problems with any of the units. :drink: I must say had a hard time deciding on which unit for my 09SEUC.

I went with the TTS because of the versatility of the device.  In addition to being a great tuner, you can use it to run diagnostics and to easily look at and clear DTC's, and probably a dozen other features that are way over my head.  An added benefit is the wealth of personal attention you get from Steve Cole (manufacturer), Doc (Doc's Performance Tuning), and Steve Fuller (Fulsac) and a bunch of users on this and other boards.

Got this second hand but the communications are different for the ECM on the 2011 and Steve is working on the new TTS interface. I am sure it will be done soon.

I want to thank everyone for weighing in on my stealth stage 1 questions...this forum and it's members have provided me with the tools to make a wise decision. I installed the FULLSAC X-PIPE, RINEHART 4" slip-ons, SERT, and had it DYNO-tuned. I had Rinehart True Duals on my 08 Road King and really loved the sound and performance, but nothing prepared me for the awesome sound of their 4" slip-ons. I have never heard a pipe sound this good! It has a super deep throaty sound, almost like a race car. The performance difference is immediately noticeable, but is evidenced by the 125 ft. lbs of torque the bike produces on the DYNO. Wow! I couldn't be happier and I've never heard a set up that sounds better! Thanks to all!
