Some of you may remember our ride report from July 18, 2009 where I explained that my wife and I rode to The Big Apple in the hopes of getting Paul McCartney to autograph her custom painted 2006 Deluxe "Fab 4" bike. Well, we enjoyed a great ride to New York, but unfortunately we were not successful...
GREAT NEWS!
On Monday, Aug. 9th we headed down to the Air Canada Centre in Toronto where Paul was performing his second show. I managed to find his head security guy, who remembered us from New York, and we gave him another letter of request for Paul's signature. He said we'll have to wait and see, took my cell number and off he went.
A couple of hours later out of the arena comes the security guy who found us hanging around, and he informed us it was a go! We had to wait till after the concert, which of course we didn't mind and then Marlene rode her bike down the ramp underneath the arena to their parking garage to wait for his entrance. After having a few laughs with some of his people for 20 or so minutes, Paul arrived and we had our own private meeting. WOW!
Paul is such a down to earth person and was so nice to us, joking around like he does. His people (and there were many) were all very accommodating as well.
Here he is reaching to give Marlene a hug after jumping on her bike for a photo op, and saying "come on Luv, get in here"! All I could say is "look at you two Brits"!
After a 3 hour concert he was obviously tired, so we only had a few minutes with him… But they were sure special!
On his departure I thanked him with a hand shake and Marlene went to do the same… Paul not only changed it up for a hug, he kissed her ON THE LIPS! Another WOW!
His PR Manager let us know that he will forward pictures and videos that their people took, and in the meantime we have our own to share.
Oh, by the way, in case you're wondering… Everyone, including Paul, just loved Marlene's bike.
