Fender tip extension
« on: March 06, 2006, 08:18:39 PM »

Has anyone seen the new painted to match rear fender tip extension that has the two side filler strips attached to it? I was wondering what that might look like on my pumpkin. I'd like to get the license plate lowered to the fender and maybe this would be an acceptable attachment.

Are you talking about the one on the FLHX Street Glide with the LED inserts on the bottom.

yes, thats what I saw it on, a street glide. I liked the look, didnt know it had lights. I also liked the antenna hole which tilts the antenna backward at a slant. Looks good, I might give it a try, as long as theres no drilling.

CVO,
I believe you will find that you have to drill, quite a bit. More than I wanted to do on my '05.

Don't do it,  your still a young man!!!!!  Drilling stuff causes holes,  holes make rust (mostly because fresh steel is left unprotected).  Rust makes well... (oxidized steel) but,  there's always a better way to do it,  but U CAN DOOOOO IT!!!  If you gotta drill,  take some primer and clear, cover that sucker up and move on,....but make sure it's covered....

JMHO.....

Sounds like an interesting item, but I can't visualise it. Anybody got a picture or a URL?

I tried to buy the LED fender tip extension today and found out it was only available to owner's of Street Glides and not as a replacement part or accessory. According to the dealer it is a restricted part and you have to have a serial number to order one. :'(

I knew that I had read somewhere that there was an issue concerning moisture in these lights. Read this thread: Street Glide Taillight on lower fender (reply #8).
