2011 RG Ultra
« on: August 29, 2010, 08:49:04 AM »

I know the RG Ultra you can mount a Garmin 660 on the bars with the new HD mount?  Question:  How do you get the audio wire to the Aux port on the radio?  Thanks.. :)

Buy a patch cable and plug it between the output of the Zumo and the Auxiliary input on the front of the radio.

http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/gold/item/SP-SPSC-7

Or do a modification and add an Auxiliary input to the back of the radio, you can do this yourself or have Iron Cross do it.

You can also buy a NIM module from Harley.

Unbeleivable that MOCO has not integrated the rear mounted audio jack for this purpose.  I have a freind that has the 2011 CVO ultra and has the Zumo 660 included but still has the visable wire?? Come on.
Look for the thread to wire the GPS into the back of the radio AUX.

Thanks TL. Please forgive my ignorance, but will this allow me to play MP3's from my Zumo 660 without using the front Aux port? It isn't really clear to me in their description.

The Road Glide ULTRA CVO has the cable ran thru the handlebars and inc's the NIM module as OE equipment. Why would you want to plug it into the frt aux port?

I cannot speak for Rob but I would want to so I could listen to music on the MP3 card in the Zumo.  Can you do that through the NIM?  If so that would be great.

You are spot on and no, from my experience you cannot. That's why they added the Ipod (I assume). I kept asking everyone that would listen "Why are they adding an Ipod when The Zumo can hold all the MP3's you need?" Now I know. I used the Ipod on tonight's ride after loading it up with everything and then some from the Zumo card and it worked flawlessly. No need for the songs in the Zumo unless I am taking it in my vehicle.

OK that's great.  But now I'll have to keep up to date with music on the Zumo for non CVO RG applications and the I-Pod for the CVO RG.  Problem is (if I understand what I think I understand) that the I-Pod cannot accept MP3 ripped music and the MP3 in the Zumo cannot accept music ripped for the I-Pod.  So ripping 12+mb of music (which is what I have in MP3 format) is a PIA, major league big time.

That sounded just like Charlie Brown's school teacher to me.... ???  :P

Don't know if this means anything or not but the same songs I had on my itunes (from about every source you can think of) I loaded and played on my Ipod mini, Zumo 550, Zumo 665, Zumo 660 and now the ipod in the bike.

Rob according to the instructions for the NIM you CAN play the MP3 songs you have loaded in the Zumo. I don't have one so I can not say for sure if it works as advertised.

Maybe you need to have the speaker switch in the red light on mode?

Thanks.  That would be good.  Guess we'll confirm whenever someone with an '11 RC or UC has a chance to check it out.
