Id like to know more about that? plated cylinders work well in  every other application.  They transfer heat much better, and no cast liner to slip or distort.

I agree! So how did Twolane and other powdercoat their cylinders without issue. Twolane did you have to overbore your cylinders? because they were out of round? I want to apply Axtell cylinders to my 110" but they only come in silver and black. I will not use Revolution Cylinders, did that once never again.

Geeez Brad I agree with the above.
I also tried them on a little hot rod sporty, give me Axtell anyday!
I guess we will go with silver.

It was all about the order in which things were done.  The right prep to make sure one job isn't interfering with another or impacting the final product.  Especially with powder coating as I was told more than once from more than once source that the final bake could effect things.

If you're doing any cosmetic work do it first.  In my case raw jugs without any final machining first went from Axtell to Sumax for powder then went to Diamond Heads for diamond cutting. Only after that was done did they go back to Axtell for final machining.

A shop dropped a set of 103" cylinders off to be checked after powder coating. One was .008" and the other was .009" out of round.......... It's your gamble.  :o
It's like "What Came First..The Chicken or The Egg?" Why do you see powder coating in ports, and not on gasket surfaces?....It's still your gamble.
John

Why do you think S&S and others have disclaimers about it?

Don I assume that this process was OK or determined by Axtell? Powder coat and Diamond coat, then final machining?  :nixweiss:

Or as Chip indicated Silver it will be!  :2vrolijk_21:

Brad, I assumed that was the order things would be done it.  But on the first conversation with Axtell it was also their specific instruction.  It was also a process they'd been through many times.

Makes sense though.  No sense in jeopardizing any final machining with what is only external cosmetic work.  And, done carefully, there's no reason that any final machining in head or cylinder work should jeopardize external cosmetics.

Axtell shipped a set of basically raw jugs to the powder coater.  Powder shop did its thing.  Sent them on to diamond cutting where that was cut off the new powder.  Then back to Axtell for head work and final cylinder work and fitting.  For those familiar with what they're doing it was no big deal.

I agree with John, as we have built all the Sumax bikes for years now, and have witnessed similar.
The heat process moves stuff all over the place.
BTW, the granite color, no matter who is doing it, (as Sumax has alerted us) does not seem to adhere well, as we have been told.

Looks like "a la natural" silver is leading for the best color option.

I'm confused (doesn't take much sometimes) are you guys saying rev perf cylinders are dimensionally unstable from a design defect or it happens from the powder coating  process or both?
