« on: September 07, 2010, 05:30:06 AM »

You probably won't have to retune or notice any change in performance, but, I'd be willing to bet that the sound will not be quieter, keep us posted to the results, I'm curious if this will work.

I wrapped the baffles with the roped hi temp fiberglass used on furnace doors I used 5/8 in (bought it from Menards) It took about 1 1/2 rolls on each baffle. It did quiet them but not sure what it did to the idle, performance etc,

Thanks for your thoughts on this.  I was worried I would significantly change  So far I notice the idle is a little off as the bike is shaking slightly at idle

Fiberglass will not last. Will burn out pretty fast.  Use either TechMat or SilcoSoft by BGF. 1200 to over 2000 degrees and acoustical properties as well.  If you change the baffles by wrapping then your changing the tune. I would retune, but that's me.  Been there and it made a difference.

I wrapped my Rineharts with a a baffle wrap from Fuel Moto.  Quieted the pipes down significantly.  Not very expensive.  Looked like spaghetti.

[/quoteUpdate this is 2000degree stove gasket rope material you place around wood burners or stove doors  this is not the fiber glass cloth material.  Anyway...so far it has done a great job quieting the Samson caliber mufflers.    I did have it redyno and it was a waste of money as the graphs did not change hardly enough to see]

Where can a person buy TechMat? I see it comes in thicknesses from 1/8 to 1 inch. What's works best on the outside of the screen on a cvo muffler with fullsac baffles, and what kind of tape is suggested to hold it in place? Or would you just use wire and twist it?

Bruce & Nancy Doss in NC is where I get mine.  Bruce carries TechMat and SilcoSoft. Will PM you his email address as I don't know if he wants it posted on the forum.  Bruce also sells on e-bay. His e-bay sales was Doss Mighty Matt.

When I wrapped the Silcosoft I used drywall tape to wrap around the Silcosoft to keep it in place.
