Best way to paint the air filter backplate from black to granite?
« on: September 08, 2010, 07:29:14 AM »

I just called my dealer and had him cross reference the individual part numbers for kit 29490-09 versus CVO Road Glide air cleaner individual parts. He told me all part numbers are the same except the insert on the cover and the back plate. The CVO backplate is granite to match the engine. The 29490-09 backplate is painted black. My dealer told me the aerosol high temp granite paint is part no. 98606CTN and it's $19.60 per can.

Randall

Hello,

I've installed the "ventilator" air filter on my Springer and as Randall received it with a black backplate instead of the granite one matching the engine color. So I've ordered the aerosol high temp granite paint, part no. 98606CTN.

So now wondering what the best way to apply it:

1) Should I paint the granite over the original black paint of backplate?
2) Should I remove/clean the original black paint before spraying the granit color?
3) any other way?

Thank you in advance for your info

Greetings   Laurent
