NEW 2011 FLHTCUSE, ULTRA CLASSIC ELECTRA GLIDE. WHERE ARE THEY?
« Reply #60 on: November 25, 2010, 05:31:13 PM »

IS ANYBODY TAKING POSSESSION OF THE NEW 2010 SCREAMING EAGLE ULTRA CLASSIC ELECTRA GLIDE? I'VE HAD MONEY DOWN  ON ONE SINCE JULY,21,2010. THE HD DEALER SAID MID DECEMBER, NOW HE SAYS MID JANUARY.  DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON WITH HARLEY? I THOUGHT THEY WOULD HAVE RELEASED THEM BY NOW

If you are still waiting for your '10 SEUC then there is a definite problem.  All models, to my knowledge, are delivered and most are on the road.

I had money down on mine since late July, was told it should be here on 10/10 and just picked it up on 11/20.  Worth the wait though.

MY HD DEALER ISN'T ABLE TO GIVE ME A DEFINITE DATE. HE JUST SAYS WHENEVER THEY SEND IT TO HIM.  HOW DID YOU GET THAT DELIVERY DATE? I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHEN SOMEBODY WANTS TO SPEND 37K FOR A MOTORCYCLE THAT THEY CAN'T GIVE ME A DELIVERY DATE. I'VE HAD MONEY DOWN FOR 4 MONTHS NOW! MAYBE YOUR DEALER HAS MORE CONNECTIONS WITH HARLEY.

The way it works is the dealer will be notified by the MoCo that a bike(whatever model) is on the way and the VIN # of that bike. If the bike is for a specific customer (one that has made a deposit) then the dealer will notify that customer. Before the "mothership" (MoCo) does that then the dealer is in the blind as much as you are... they may get "projected" dates.. but nothing is definite until they get a ship date/VIN from the MoCo.

A few things.  First, do you know that typing in all capital letters implies that you are yelling at us?  Second, from what you said there, you implied that maybe you are paying more than MSRP for the one you are waiting for.  Why, if you can get one for MSRP elsewhere?  Lastly, it sounded like you were quite overanxious about getting your hands on your new bike, and now you found one available for less money, yet you are going to wait another month and a half to get it.  Again, why?  I'm not trying to be rough on you or anything, but these were the thoughts that popped into my head immediately when I read your posts.  If you can save some money on the purchase, it will make it easier for us to help you spend your money on upgrades...and that's our duty...helping you spend more money.  Anyway, regardless of what you end up doing, you will get a lot of enjoyment out of your new ride.  It's an awesome bike.  Welcome to the forum.

Back when I bought my FLHTCUSE4, I had been looking around the dealers for one, and came across 2 at the same dealer in WV.  They wanted $4000 over MSRP.  I hopped back on my bike and never looked back.  The way I look at it is the dealers need me much more than I will ever need them.  If I don't get a new bike, I will survive.  If they don't sell bikes, they will not survive.  One week later, the closest dealer to me got one in and I happened to stop by at the right time and picked it up for MSRP on the spot.  That dealer had just told me that week prior that they had none of these bikes coming in at least through January 09 shipments and had no idea if they would be getting any at all.  That was at the end of October 2008 and rode mine out of there on November 5th, 2008.  What it boils down to, IMHO, is that it depends on who you talk to at the dealership.  I don't think most of the employees have a clue what they are REALLY getting in, and of the few that actually should know, half of them don't seem to understand the system or the reports they receive.  Then, of course, there are the ones that will tell you that they are getting in what you want, just in case they do get one and then they can be the one to make the sale.

When it comes to servicing your bike, it doesn't really matter where you bought it.  The service department makes their money by servicing bikes and they make money on warranty work as well as any other repairs.  As most of us already know, even if you bought your bike at the dealer servicing your bike, they still treat you like chit.

Here's the problem.  When you "order" a Harley, you are really not ordering anything.  They basically "promise" that bike to you when it comes in.  They supposedly have a date to expect that bike, but it's hardly carved in stone.  This whole ordering a Harley was explained to me a various dealers in central PA.  They really don't have any control on it.
