2009 Road Glide Steering Supplement??? Torque value???
« on: September 18, 2010, 03:05:28 PM »

I know I have seen it, have been searching, isn't there a supplement for the torque on a 2009 RG? Seems like it was supposed to be torqued to a higher value??

LOL, let's try this again, I am adjusting the steering stem on my RG, the "fall away" adjustment. I am sure that I have seen here somewhere that Harley has came out with a "supplement" to the 2009 service manual Head bearing adjustment. In the supplement they call for a hight torque value on the head bearing nut.

Hopefully that is a little clearer?

The other posiblity is that I have no idea what I am talking about, and there is no such supplement.....

You are exactly correct, there was a bulletin of some sort that updated the spec.  I remember it, I remember reading it, I remember a lot of people having handling issues because of this issue before the spec was changed, but I can't remember where the actual bulletin was posted.  If we can't dig up the bulletin, if anyone has a 2010 Touring shop manual it should have the updated specs.

Well that is actually what is in my manual, I thought I had read that the torque value was over 100 lbs,  :nixweiss: I probably just bumped my head again... Thanks for the help though!!
