Fullsac Baffles
« on: September 19, 2010, 12:07:57 PM »

I've been searching for some info on the difference in between the three baffles that Fullsac offers for the stock CVO cans.

From what I read, most of the guys here seem to be using the 2" version. Has anyone used the 2" and the 2.25"? I was wondering if there is a big sound difference in between them for those two sizes. Power difference as well?

Any input?

Kern I am using the 2.25" on my 09SEUC with cat-less headpipe, PCV, Arlen Ness Big Sucker AC. I would not think the human ear could detect a difference between 2" or 2.25" baffles. The 2.25" baffles are not even close to being what I call loud. Mine sound good but not as loud as I had expected. When I follow my wife on her 03RKC with Rush slipons I have to turn the radio volumn up. Hers is way louder. Seat of the pants feel of power and less heat has improved 110%. Someone will have input about the 2" baffles. You did not say what type of sound you are looking for. The price of the Fullsacs can't be beat. Hope this helps you.

Right now I have a set of Bassani slip ons on the bike. They are the "high flow" "big motor" cans. They have a good rumble with a nice bark when you dig in. I'm always looking for more I guess. Heh. I have a D&D Fatcat on my'06 with a race baffle that barks really good. Sounds like a Nascar motor. I'm ordering my X-Pipe and TTS on Monday and was thinking I might check out the baffles just to see how they are. The stock cans are worth more with the Fullsac baffles than stock I would suppose. I still like louder sounding bikes.....for now.   ;D

I was told that my Bassanis will get a lil bit louder when the cat is removed. Did you notice anything when you switched?

I'm using the 1 3/4 on my 103 with x-pipe and V&H insulation in the stock cvo cans. VERY nice sound to my ears. Never gets too loud unless I do full throttle.
I have the 2" on my 113 with tru-duals, lots louder, but, it's mostly because of the motor.

Not much difference in power from smallest to largest size on dyno runs...I have a print out here somewhere....just can't find it.

V&H Insulation? Do you mean you wrapped Fullsac baffles with V&H Insulation?

Sorry, not following you on that one.

Thanks for the response in advance.

I was running 2"Rush on my 08seuc w/stock head pipe, sert & remap. Changed to2.25" Fullsac & the temp. increase was huge. Dynoed w/2.25 & ran much cooler--the same as the Rush. Loved the sound, but had several problems. Alot of blubbering, back-pop on deceleration. Cough back through intake upon start-up. Smelled rich @start-up.  After setting through a red light, starting to take off bike would cough & die. REally a pisser ! I thought fuel was too rich--maybe a little over-tuned? Bike would run like a scalded cat& put out 98hp &123ft/# torque!! Talked to my local tuner & Steve @ Fullsac. Local tuner said put in 2" baffles & probably solve problem, not enough back pressure.Fullsac said maybe, but could be 02 problem. Put in 2" Fullsac, not much sound difference,& with only 10-15mi & 3 start-ups seems problem solved. Time will tell..

Check out the pictures:
I've got about 3/4" insulation between the screen and the inner muffler wall, then about a 1" air gap, then the actual core.
You gotta have that air gap, or the exhaust will be louder. Louder also with duals.
I'm running the x-pipe and these 1 3/4" cores on my 103, and like the sound, quiet while cruising, and a little bark when on the throttle.
I've got the same muffler on my 113, but, with 2" cores and tru-dual exhaust....pretty loud on the throttle, but, tolerable while cruising.

Thanks for the detailed response. I just ordered my stuff from Steve.

I decided to go with the 2.25, X-Pipe and a TTS. I figure it is a hundred and change and I want to see for myself for the baffles. If they dont work or I'm not happy with them, I can recoup a couple of bucks on Ebay or whatever. Then I can throw the Bassani's back on.

Really looking forward to hearing it and seeing how it performs.
Thanks again.

Thats the same setup I have on my FLTRUSE. Sounds real good to me. If you want them a little louder, do as HOGMIKE said and add more wrap so there is no gap between the existing (stock) screen/wrap so that there is zero air gap.

If you are looking for louder, I heard you could wrap some sheet metal around part of the baffle, secure with hose clamps and that will make it louder. Essentially you are constructing the beginnings of a straight pipe. I'm guessing that the more of the baffle you wrap in metal, the louder it will get. If you cover the entire baffle you have made a straight pipe. Just something I heard and have not tried on my own.....

That is the stock wrap around the screen. What's hard to see is that I have another 1/2" layer of V&H wrap over that.
I'm not sure the V&H will last, and may try the Moose wrap stuff in the future.
I tried some old fiberglas mat I had laying around, but, it burned out in some places.
Wish I could find more of the long strand "stock" wrap.
I'm pretty happy with the setup I have now, just have to see how it lasts.
