serg breakdown
« on: September 19, 2010, 09:11:32 PM »

riding home tonight from 500 km day half way through a round about(rotary) the serg all but died , no throttle response at all just coasted to side of road, the engine light was on and the motor sputtering , so I shut it off thinking it was a computer problem don't know if it helped but I turned the key switch to and fro thinking it would reset it's brain fart or what ever? and no didn't work. so phone a friend time. so with a truck on the way I kept fiddling with the key switch and also pulled the main fuse started the bike and had throttle and the motor light went off after after a couple seconds so after seeing I had good oil pressure and everything seemed fine off I go with my chase truck behind friends are great. and made the 60 km trip home with nary a problem or a flashing engine light it still flashes on though and then off any one wanna take a guess what kinda gremlin that was? am going to the dealer Tuesday to have the code read if there is one.stock 09 110 serg tts open exhaust. hey that turned out to be pretty heavy reading oh well cheers fellas :drink: :nixweiss:

One item I'd definitely suspect is the wiring for the electronic throttle control.  Click on the attachment, it's a Harley tech tip detailing issues with the wiring terminals for the ETC.

If you would like to check your diagnostic trouble codes yourself, there are instructions posted here on the site.  Do a search for "DTC's".

well got a chance to check dtc's codes. threw a 1511 and the pins in the throttle body plug look fine that was the only code in there :nixweiss:

My pins looked OK to the naked eye but put them under a big magnifying glass and you will most likely see very small indentation in the plug it took about 4 times before the dealership finally called HD and they told them how to find it.
