Roadglide to a streetglide?
« on: September 20, 2010, 01:30:19 AM »

This maybe a little over the top but, ever since I bought my SERG I have struggled with buffeting. I love the way it looks with the shorter windshields but do not like it with the tall ones. My previous bike was an Ultra Classic and never had a problem with buffeting. I bought the SERG because my wife decided riding was not her thing. I rode a friends street glide this weekend and really enjoyed it. I have invested to much into my bike to sell it or trade it in, SO here is my question, has anyone heard of changing the shark nose for a bat wing. Please don't make this harder than it has to be. Just some positive would be welcome.

I have read on HDforums and vtwin forums that many people have went both ways-Streetglide to road glide and vice versa.  There aren't really that many parts needed-less than you think.  Good luck and let us know how it works out.
If you don't want to keep your old parts, may be able to do a trade with someone wanting to go the other way.

Hotrodstitcher has converted from a Road Glide to a Street Glide.  At one point in time I was considering buying an 09 SERG and converting it to a batwing fairing and communicated with Sid about it.  I think he told me that he had about $1k by the time he'd bought all the parts, sold his take off parts and had it painted.

Other than that, he'd said that it was relatively easy to do.  Contact Sid (Hotrodstitcher).

I made this conversion to my '03 FLTR.  Best investment I made in that bike!  I had less than $2K in the conversion, but I didn't sell my original parts, the dealer gave me a token trade in value.

What's this world coming too?  First we have people who want to go the other way...and now motorcycles!!  This is too much.  Can't anyone just be happy with what they are???

I talked to Sid the other day and got some great info on the transformation. Very nice guy, thanks for hooking me up with him. Handlebars off a 2010 CVO street glide are on the way and shopping for the fairing and brackets now. Looking for some ideas on a paint scheme for the fairing. Any ideas? I am looking forward to seeing the whole process come together.
