« on: September 20, 2010, 06:49:48 PM »

This will be the replacement of the 407- 408 tires on the 2009 - 2011 touring family. The 407 408 will still be available. I emailed Dunlop and this American Elite will produce the Mileage the 407R does if not more, was their statement.. Comes out in Q4 of this year. Means soon ?? Not sure about Q4..... They have pictures of tire..     www.dunlopmotorcycle.com/fitmentguide.asp

That I don't know, all I know is what they  (Dunlop) told me was the rear tire compound was similar to the 407 rear.. Good wear..  I have 23,000 on my stock 407 rear and front 408F..Very happy with mileage.. So If the American Elite will give me another 20,000 plus I'll consider..

Seen the Tire at Biketoberfest, I personally like it.. Looking for a deal but can't find one. I'll have to order one on-line I guess.. I'll get 25,000 miles easy on the 407 rear. And 408F front..

I got the American Elite installed on rear yesterday. Good looking tire, need to ride more for opinion. I got 25,260 miles on the stock 407 rear, still have front 408F stock tire on bike. Real happy with mileage on this tire and almost got another. Figured I'd try something new thinking Dunlop tried to improve something..

It is rather incredible the miles they are getting on these newer tires. My old formula was 10,000 miles on the front and 7,500 on the rear. Actually kind of nice seeing these new numbers!

Agree on the numbers you said.. Mind blowing to get over 25,000 miles on rear tire.. I e-mail Dunlop and they say these American Elite's will get the same or more than 407's rear.. I'm happy with front 408F with same mileage and still on Bike...

On the flip side, I do notice that although these multi-tread compounds do corner well, they do loose traction easier during hard accelleration and braking compared to the older compounds that were soft across the entire tread. I guess that's the trade off. I almost think the centers might be a little too hard. Perhaps shoot for 15,000 miles to help straightline traction a bit? I dunno??

I understand ur point. I have no problem with traction, Personally I'm happy as hell to get over 25,000 miles on a rear tire. Still have the stock front, We'll see what it gets !!

407 and 408's are all that is listed for 09 SERG.  Does the Elite not come in an 18" diameter?

I have a 2010 Ultra Limited, Rear is a 16" wheel and Front is a 17" wheel.. Is the 18" stock on yours ?? I thought yours should be like mine ?? I'm not sure now... They the American Elite don't come in 18" size. Maybe some day..
