« on: September 21, 2010, 03:40:56 PM »

i have an 05 cvo seeg w/28k miles and am starting to see some oil residue around the back head and valve cover. been reading the issues w/110 engines but not finding any info on the 103. is anyone having issues with the 103's? any input would be great.

I had the same issue on my 05 SEEG..  I removed the rear chrome rocker cover and then tightened all of the rocker box bolts that hold it to the head.  Reassembled, cleaned with brake clean, and problem was solved.
I did not remove the tank and bought the special wrenches to tighten the bolts for the rocker cover and the rocker box.  Harley now sells these wrenches.

that sounds great and a big relief. after reading about the 110's i was sure this might be a never ending situation. when i look in the service manual i wasn't for sure i wanted to really do any exploring. i think i can handle what you have described.  thanks so much for the info and it off to find the wrenches. thanks again and i will keep you up on when i work this out.

That is a lower rocker box gasket failure. We've seen this often on all of the TC engines. To properly fix it you'll need to remove the rocker box assembly and replace the gaskets.
