CUSE4 oil temp gauge
« on: September 26, 2010, 01:41:51 PM »

Does anyone know why the oil temp gauge on pg 639 will not work on CUSE's. Why a air temp gauge?!?!? Can lick my finger and be close on that.

MoCo figured they could potentially sell thousands of a useful oil temp gauge to replace the worthless air temp gauge.

Also, I suspect the air temp gauge was cheaper to install then the oil temp there for make the "share holders" even more money.

Makes the buyer think they are getting a better package deal by filling in the hole.

One would think that the top of the line touring bike would have every option, not so with HD. Oh well, still the only thing not living that I would straddle!

As has been noted in several other threads, the oil temp gauge WILL fit in the hole and it WILL actually indicate oil temperature, regardless of what the catalog says.  The difference, and the reason the catalog says it won't fit, is the backlighting of the gauge compared to the current model gauges.  So if you really want the oil temp gauge, and you don't care if the backlighting is exactly the same, it will work.  Or, you could take a page from the new SESG and just throw the air temp and volt gauges in the trash and fill the holes with tweeters.  Much more useful than those two inaccurate and useless gauges.
