I'm just saying the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Event opposers get more grease than event supporters when 10 opposers show up to complain about the event and NO supporters show up to praise the event after it ended.

Usually a power (police, city govt) shuts down an event. That is when the event supporters rally and speak up, after it's too late. (Myrtle Beach?) The event supporters (often in the hundreds or thousands) then become the complainers and then are heard, sometimes getting it reversed after damage is done.

People who support the event need to communicate the good of the event in a much louder supporting squeak than the opposers' complaining squeak.

Motorcycle organizations should have representation through Political Action Committees that state the truth about Motorcycles, Riders, and their organized events.

The News channels will exaggerate or create news to get viewers. (Dirty laundry) The Police and Fire depts will do the same to try to get more tax dollars for their budgets.
We need Billy Jack to save us from our own Born Loser kind!  ???

I'm thinking the Reno area Casinos, Hotels, Restaurants and Retail establishments are putting in their viewpoints when somebody says "we need to keep spending visitors out of our city". Wonder what the Chamber of Commerce thinks?

When I was at Myrtle a couple of years ago the beach bar, restaurant and shop owners were very PO'd after the city took action to keep out motorcycles. The motorcycle events were a key time to get their yearly revenues. I kept hearing that the Mayor and 2 Council Members would not be getting re-elected due to their support to keep the motorcycles out of Myrtle. Don't know what ever happened.  :nixweiss:

I did what we should do to represent riders. I showed up, spent money, didn't break any laws, had a good time, left the place still standing when I left. I admit I didn't spend any money on hookers or gambling.

I was concerned about going because of Reno's crime statistics, rapes and robberies are about twice the national average per 1000 people. (These stats probably dropped during the event if they added the number of visitors to the averages.)   :o  :D  :confused5:

Voicing our event support is what we can do.

Locals voicing event support has more pull.  :soapbox:

Tabatha is right in being concerned. Fremont stopped fireworks because people left beer containers and litter at business parking lots. Alameda County fair stopped fireworks because some teenager shot a rival during the fair. A few elected officials like to punish the majority for the actions of the very few. In our Democracy we take this crap and complain about it but never do anything about it. If people were against the fireworks then why do thousands show up?

Get your "Motor Running Head", out on the highway!

What we've got here is... failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it... well, he gets it. I don't like it any more than you men

Do you suppose that one of our moderators would support a forum effort towards that end ?
Below please find a system listing for Reno/Sparks Chamber of Commerce. That is where "I" started in my sole efforts to smooth over the" backwash" from this particular event !

Now that's funny. :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:

Personally, I'll keep supporting the CVO GTGs where the rooms are much, much more reasonable than Reno, Laughlin, Sturgis, Hollister, Milwaukee or any of the other formal rallies............and................twice the good times with people that I am privledged to have as friends. :2vrolijk_21:

"BTW....I think of myself as a motorcycle rider not a "biker" , I enjoy motorcycles but do not live for them !"

BTW, I live for motorcycles...always have..

Oh give me a rally
Where the CVO’s gather
And Bikers and Riders are welcome

I’ll show you some fun
Second to none
And see you get home with your chum(s)
