Spoiled cvo roadglide owners
« on: September 29, 2010, 03:54:07 PM »

I know I'm gonna take alot of heat for this but I don't care. I think that the cvo touring people are a little spoiled. I was one of them until I bought a second bike. I bought a 2006 softail standard to do up as a bobber. I wanted a bar hopper bike. This bike is an awesome bike, but really made me appreciate my roadglide. I read about people complaining about the suspension, seats, windshields, etc... Ride a softail, you'll learn to appreciate what you have. My bike is hands down a superior bike, even if it was still all stock. I really don't know what the point of this post was, maybe just to hear from people who have regular models also along with their cvo's.

I have a 2004 Fatboy rigged for solo riding and a 2010 SEUC-Blk......My wife says its the floating couch.....I kind of like the heated seats and handgrips and the fact the Zumo doubles as an mp3 player and dont forget the best invention yet...cruise control.

However,  Given the choice I will ride my Fatboy any chance I get.  Riding is what you make it......

I came to my SERG3 from 16,000 miles on a purchased new '06 Softail Standard. My FXSTI was a great looking and running bike...but I have never for a second regretted going CVO...and the shark, IMHO is the best looking and riding of em all. Rode a good bud's 2010 FLTRX a couple days ago...he's bumped it to 103, tweaked the exhaust, 14" aapes, a good Cee Bailys, & quite a few other niceties...serious coin mods....still no comparison.

I was toast the first time I let that hydrauilic clutch engage and felt a 110's torque...

Went from 100th Anniversary Wide Glide to SERG.  I miss the lightness and manuverability of the WG over the heavy feel of the SERG...but that's where it ends.  Of course, there is no comparison as far as touring goes.  Although, without the 110, I think I would have been VERY dissapointed in the touring class.  For some reason the WG hauled azz (88 CI with Stage I and VH Short Duals)?!?!

I kept my 03 Fatboy when I got the SERG figuring I would like it better on roads like the dragon and around town.  Not true.  I have to force myself to ride the fatboy.  Seems the SERG just does everything better.

Okay I'm really spoiled!  When I got my 09 SERG I kept my 07 Road King.  I love the power and handling of the SERG.  I think I do prefer the "classic" look of the Road King though.  The Road King is sort of becoming my around town bike and the SERG is for Sunday rides and trips.  Yeah, spoiled!

Spoiled?

Each scooter has a purpose.

My '79 Airhead (R100RT), REX  TNA was my first.  As divorce and death are not a requirement, she still sits (never gets ridden anymore) in my garage near the SERG3.  My '04 Chromehead (R1200CL), HARDLEY was ridden up to the house in WA this past May (she's easier to keep pretty in that wet environment).  Regretfully, she's gotten a lot more miles this year than WLDTHG.

I keep thinking I'll trade the Chromehead in on a new R1200RT Low Suspension.  But, HARDLEY's an extremely comfortable ride.

Ditto - traded (man, I wish I had that to do over again!) my 105th Anniv Road King Classic on this 09 SERG.  Greatly miss my RK for the look and cool appeal, but performance and touring, comfort and ammeneties, I'd take CVO every day over standard bikes.  The money all the included upgrades gives is more than worth it, even with any MoCo problems built in with every bike, CVO or not.
