Gerbing ???
« on: October 03, 2010, 01:40:50 PM »

I just bought the all of the Gerbing gear along with the dual thermostat. Is there any way to not have all of these wires hangning out in front of my left leg. 2 wires coming from the thermostat to the jacket connector and another wire to the battery connector. Just looks like a mess and the wires are rubbing up against my tank.

I keep my dual t-stat controller in my inside pocket in the jacket liner.......only one wire exposed.  Terrie clips hers to the outside leg of her chaps so that she can adjust the controller as she's riding......but the down side is all the wires hanging off her leg. :nixweiss:

Thanks for the info. I prefer to have my thermostat where I can get to it easily. I guess I'll just have to get used to the wires hanging. You'd think they have come up with a way for them to be on the inside of the jacket with the thermostat on the outside. In a perfect world I guess. lol

I bring the power cord up by my rider backrest and then sit on it. The dual controller is clipped to my chaps, as I always have my chaps on if it's cold enough for the heated gear.  Haven't had a problem with excess wires. I push them up under my jacket.

I clip my dual controller to my riding pants if I have them on.  If not, I stick it in my pocket.  I prefer to clip it to my pants so I can adjust the heat.

I ran the wire from the batterey out the front of my seat up by the console, when it wasn't in use I would tuck the plug under the seat. For me it was easier to unplug and plug when getting off and on the bike and I didn't have all of the wires just hanging there as you stated earlier

I built in to the bike two dual controllers, one in the R Rear Speaker Pod & one in the Tank Console.  Very neat & tidy!

I run my controller in the inside pocket of the jacket liner.  I can reach in there and adjust while riding.

I bought the dual controller to run the jacket liner and gloves.  But I can't stand the gloves and don't wear them.  I have found that the jacket liner is enough to keep my core temp up and with my core taken care of my hands and feet don't get cold. So I just wear regular gloves and have been fine.

I've got the dual controller. I stick it in the pocket of my FXRG pants or my chaps. Not found a spot where I can get to it while riding. Tried it under strap on my seat but too constraining.

I installed the BMW style receptacle and hang the controller on my vest-single wire to the power receptacle now-if I used the gear more I would look at getting the remote dual control and mount it-I saw a Soft tail recently with the remote mounted on the coil cover and the wires to it hidden.

I use the heated jacket liner only.  Putting controller in pocket.  Yeah, its out of sight but if I can remember that "Hotter" is clockwise, I dont freeze.....but then again, I am in Calif so freezing is almost out of the picture.

Can someone explain what the indicator lights on the dual thermostat control mean? Steady is on I assume.  What does flashing mean?  There was nothing in the manual.

I think the only time the indicator light(s) are steady is if you have the control turned all the way up for max heat.  Anything below that and they flash.  At least that appears to be what mine do.  Never really pay any attention - just plug in, adjust and enjoy.   :2vrolijk_21:

If you wear a jacket with belt type Velcro adjuster just hang the clip on the right hip were the knob can be accessed and controlled easily, when you get off of the bike simply unplug it from the line that goes to the battery. And leave the controller clipped to the belt.

I had the single controller, however since I have heated grips now do not need to the dual controller, also with the newer Microwire Gerbing their seems to be less wires hanging down.
