Have Power But NO Sound?
« on: October 04, 2010, 05:33:17 PM »

This weekend i went to use the HK on my '06 CUSE and no sound through the speakers? i have power to the radio and all functions work from hand controls, switching from Am, Fm, Cd, Wb, Xm etc. You can hear power source through all speakers (low distortion sound) I have added Hog Tunes 4 in your face in the lowers. But NO sound through the speakers? I have tried using the dash console speaker switch back and forth maybe to see if there was a contact issue with that but no change?  :nixweiss:
Any ideas from the audio pro's

Thanks in advance

Is your speaker switch on? It's one of the toggle switches by the base of the handlebars.

Bypass the amp to check if it's the radio or amp that is giving you the problem. For me it turned out to be the radio, so I called these guys.....  www.ironcrossaudio.com. They provide excellant repair service with fast turnaround time. Do a search on the forum and you will find very good reviews.

On the dash panel? Yes, in fact i called and spoke with Scott @ Hog Tunes and he mentioned the speaker toggle switch's have been known to go bad? the contacts are the problom even though the switch seem to operate switching from head set to normal and to passenger settings

Unplug the power source at the amp to check?

Unfortunately not that simple. You need to bypass the amp completely. Connect the input side of the amp (coming from the radio) to the speaker leads on the output side. Essentially making it like the amp is not there at all.

06 radio with no audio is most likely an internal amp circuit issue. This is something not uncommon on the 06 and 07 models with the weak fairing brackets. Give us a call and we'll walk you through it.
