I live in BC and have a friend that was mauled by these beasts.  He told me the whole adventure and it was a miracle he is still here.  Recovery was 4 months in hospital-infection is the highest concern and 2 years before he could go back to work.  The scars are incredible.  Still hunts today but carries a larger rifle and backup.  They say that when a grizzly hears a gunshot now they think it is a dinnerbell.
