Rio Vista to Volcano Bagger Lunch
« on: October 12, 2010, 09:23:18 PM »

Characters: JC and Terrie (Sacramento), John and Kim (Oakley), Jeff (Vacaville), Clem (Petaluma), Lonnie (Petaluma), and Don and Carole (Fremont).

Breakfast in Rio Vista at 8:00 am full tanks, KSU @ 9:00 am. Bag lunches.

Beautiful warm weather ride along the Delta waterway levees. Caught two ferries. First stop at store west of Sacramento. CA-16 to CA-49 to Sutter Creek. Sutter Creek Volcano Rd to Volcano for lunch. This is a nice winding blacktop road through a rural tree lined area. Volcano has a great shady park with tables next to the non-volcanic rock formations that the town was named after. Left Volcano to CA-88 into Jackson. Took CA-49 to Electra Rd to a park on the banks of the Mokelumne River. Beautiful clear cold water spot loaded with Salmon.

For home back through Jackson to CA-104 to Ione, continued past the unopened Nuclear Power towers to the Galt area where JC and Terrie headed home to Sacramento. The rest continued to CA-160 (River Rd) to Rio Vista where Jeff, Clem, and Lonnie split off. Continued on across the Antioch Bridge where John and Kim cut off to home in Oakley. We took CA-4 to CA-680 to Niles Canyon and home. A twelve hour trip for Carole and I.

We did a lot of boating in the Rio Vista area and it was fun to revisit the area. The Gold Country is always beautiful.

JC led a good ride and we had fun meeting and being with friends.

Get your "Motor Running Head", out on the highway!

What we've got here is... failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it... well, he gets it. I don't like it any more than you men

Jeff, new CVO member. 09 CVO Springer.

Jeff's wife lost her battle to cancer four months earlier and he began riding as a way to continue forward in his life. Only had 150 miles under his belt.

Great guy and started to get the hang of things. Reminds me of when I started riding with members, and how I had to learn to get ready quickly when the leader of the ride started getting ready.

Great looking bike. Skull eyes on rear fender glow.

Water on the right, riding on levee, farming about 30 feet below water level on left. Thousands of miles of levees in the San Jauquin Delta area.

The only way I could shut off my headlights and board was to shut off the bike and make Carole push it. She refused. :nixweiss:

The ride was maybe 150 - 200 yards. Bicycles, autos, motorcycles. No tractors or goats on this ride.

These guys are paying their debts to society by clearing the roadsides. No orange vests? This is becoming very popular in CA.

Sutter Creek champagne bubbles? Okay, the truth is Sutter Creek has wine and the bubbles are coming from a hotel bath.
