KlockWerks windshield
« on: October 15, 2010, 01:44:42 PM »

Hi,

I have a 010 CVO Ultra. I am considering the Klockwerks 8.5 windscreen for my bike.  Anyone have experience with this windscreen?  I stand 5'7", had one on my 07 Road Glide,a lot of wind noise and it wanted to rip my helmut off at 80mph, but it looked cool.

I have no experience with Klockwerks but my new Freedomshield is really good.

There is another thread here about this. Search for Freedomshields.

We are about the same height. I had the Klockwerks 8.5 on my SG and it looked cool but I couldn't stand it. The windshield limited my visibility directly in front of the bike which was a PIA when it came time to avoid pot holes or other debris in the road. It lasted all of about 250 miles before I sold it to a friend. I am going to go with a freedom shield 6 or 7" air curve

Awesome wind shield. I'm 5'10 and run a 8.5 dark smoke on the same bike and works great. You should be able to look over the wind shield 1-2".  :2vrolijk_21:

No :( not available until I get home. I do have a 6.5 dark smoke available which did not work for me (too short) I love the 8.5 dark smoke but remember you need 1-2" view over the wind shield. Plus it looks cool on the black bike. :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

I believe they come in different sizes base the height of the rider. :coolblue:

I am one of the lucky first to own a 2011 CVO RG Ultra.  Horrible upper helmet turbulence >55mph.  Bought a WindVista (10" air curve) and it improved about 20% but not enough for me.  Finally, I figured out what the hell the two plastic wind deflectors were for and I clipped them on in less than a minute.  100% improvement.  I haven't reverted back to the original shield.  It crossed my LOS exactly mid-view and I needed something lower.  I am 5'11" and am very happy with the 10" / deflector combo.  Not sure how much the 10" contributes to the wind problem but it certainly eliminates the view issue.

Hope this helps!

Being that you asked about the SEUC, I have the shorter one installed. I've said this before, had I not wanted this when it first came out, I would have waited. The reason: I would have gotten the taller version. While the shorter one looks cooler and does put more wind over the fairing, it puts more wind over the fairing! I would have, and still might, go for the 8.5 version.

It's great in SC & FL but when I need a little buffer, it could be taller.
