As long as there's no ice on the road, I ride all year long!  Rarely need the battery tender!

I am in Colorado USA.  I cover my bikes with the indoor covers.  I have never used a battery tender.  I don't heat the garage.  I do have southern exposure and we do get good sunshine even in the winter.  My batteries in the RK have lasted five to six years.  At six years it was still cranking good but I didn't want to get stranded so I just replaced it.  I am on my second battery it still cranks good but I will replace it in the spring.  If it doesn't sell sooner.

Clean, covered, fresh gas with Sta-bil, plastic tarp underneath if in cold storage (the Harley is in warm storage the rest cold), battery tender. Thats it.

you guys that are starting your bikes once a month, warming them up and then re-parking are doing more harm than good.  Warming the bike up at idle and revving it a few times, doesn't truly get the motor and oil up to operating temp... enough to boil off the condensation that has accumulated.  Warming and cooling the cases and cylinders promotes condensation and rust.

Change the oil, Fill and Stabil the tank, Fog the cylinders, trickle the battery, jack it... and leave it.

I had a new Yamaha Attak sled that I bought new in '07... did the start, warm up thing once a month during the off season... started burning oil in the third season.  Tear down showed rusting all over the place.  Lesson learned.

She's always rests in the attached Garage, (Denali stays outside), Up on Jack, Fuel capped-off, Remove Saddle-Bags, Battery-Tender, (always), Leather Care on Seats, (heavy), deflate tires to 10#, and then just enjoy lookin' at the Ol' Girl until the 3rd week of February, when she gets all the fluids changed, HD20W-50 (Motor), Red-Line Shockproof (tranny), Harley Gear Oil, (Primary), NO synthetic for Maudie!  Waxed and detailed with Dupont 3M Hand Glaze, air up tires, drop and unhook, and she gets loaded in the FEATHERLITE to go to FLORIDA to bust Harry's a$$!  ;) Later--HUBBARD

No need to store our bikes in LA as we ride all year long.   :pepper:  For those of you living in the northern latitudes; I feel your pain.   :(

'08 FLHTCUSE3. Store it?  What the heck for?  They go when it's cold out too.  Just gotta clean it a little more to make sure no residual road salt sits on it.

Ride Safe,
