Wild 1 Outlawz 12" on a '09 Road Glide...
« on: October 17, 2010, 03:33:28 PM »

just purchased a set of these for my bike, has anyone ever put a set of apes or something taller than factory bars on a CVO bike, Road Glide, Electra Glide, etc that has the hydraulic clutch? Wild 1 tech said I won't need to extend anything like the wires or brake line BUT I might the clutch line.....HD dealer couldn't even locate a longer clutch line IF I have to......looking for help or advice.

What I have found for the CVO raod glide is that you can put up to 10" Chubby apes without any cable modifications. Looking at the specs on these new bars they are 4" narrower than the standard chubby apes so you may be able to get the 12" on without cable mods. Longer cables for the hydro clutch and brakes are availble from the aftermarket if needed.

You may have to reroute the clutch and brake line to make it fit.

you can extend the hydraulic clutch line with brake line its the same hose. You might have to get an adapter to go into the tranny because the clutch hose is one peice from the tranny to the resevoir. The adapter is called a clutch actuator adapter. The part number from J&P cycles is 630-810.

hd2000man,    you will most certainly need to provide pics once the install is done.

ok aclass, got the install done so here's the pics. I DID NOT have to extend anything (wires or clutch/brake line) on the 12" apes, just had to re-route the clutch line behind the steering neck, so that was an added plus. [/img]

Jim is too modest to say so, but if you PM him with the info on what you're doing, he'll put together a package of parts to make any change in handlebars you desire and I can attest having done it twice with him that everything will fit. I believe the rules of posting prevent Jim from self promotion, so since he can't toot his own horn, I'll toot it for him.
