First 4 Hours with My New CVO
« on: March 16, 2006, 11:36:03 PM »

Finally got my new bike delivered today...2004 Black/Blue (after waiting more than ONE MONTH for Daily Direct to get it here..story for a different post)...few marks from shipping that will require an insurance claim (arggghhh) but still didn't stop me from taking the bike for an innagural ride.  It has 2800 miles and quite a bit of engine mod work done.....260 cams, 6 speed, racetuner, rineharts, upgraded rockers, high comp forged pistons, upgraded heads, diamond cut jugs, compression releases to name a few....made the bike such a monster I had to open it up...which promptly blew out my dipstick at some point (which my wife was happy to point out once we were several miles down the road...arghhh again).  I'm guessing this occurred because the dealer overfilled the oil reservoir...thoughts???  Will post pics once I get the dirt (and now oil) washed off from shipping......oh...anyone want to trade me a king tour pack for the chopped one I got?

Yer gonna love that motorcycle! [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]  And of course......you got the original SEEG......the blue and black. [smiley=banana.gif] [smiley=jalapeno.gif]

Don't know what the deal is with the dip stick blowing out......unless it wasn't seated firmly. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

If you did have the thermostat dipstick try a stock chrome top one.  Warm up the bike then Ride it hard (like you stole it) from take off which is generally what launches the dipsticks.

Since I am a gambler my bet is that it will happen again.   Just ask your wife not to be on the bike.

If in fact the dipstick does fly out please try this.

Remove all the oil and only put back 3 1/2 quarts vs the 4 this should solve the issue.

Please let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the advice....in short...stay off the rev limiter and keep the wife off the bike...harhar....seriously..I suspect that the shop I bought the bike from in Ohio put a little extra SYN3 in (given it is colder up there) and it was 80 here yesterday...will put 3.5 quarts in and keep a spare dipstick handy since my self control is likely lacking!

If you need one of the stock plane chrome top dipsticks no need to buy one.  Let me know and I'll send you my old one.  It's not doing anything here anyway.

JVC,

I've since they got the new owner's things have improved greatly. I have a friend there named Josh I think he's running the F&I these days.

Hooked a buddy up a deal back in 2004 with them and it was a nightmare. Said never again........but I may reconsider now...... [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

They did a lot of the little things right....sent me a few t-shirts with the bike, called every couple of days to check on it to see if it had arrived (since I had it shipped), even sent me an "awards" style plaque with a picture of a B/B SEEG, my VIN#, purchase date, name on it....plus I'm pretty sure they offer a discount to CVO owners who purchase through them...seems like a very first rate shop...best of luck!
