electronic throttle and new bars
« on: October 18, 2010, 01:09:22 PM »

ok I have a 2011 ultra with the electronic throttle. Im changing out to heratage bars for the longer pullback. why do I need to replace the  electronic throttle?  the instruction sheet said all stock cables/wires can be reused. But not the electronic throttle.....confused on this one... oh and the wiring has plenty of slack to accept the extra 3 inches of pullback

Looking at the various Harley pullback bars for '08 and later Touring models, they all have a statement about requiring a special throttle sensor kit (32310-08) only if you have an internally wired switch harness.  I assume that means all the wiring is internal to the bars, such as would be the case on a CVO model.  Is yours a CVO or regular model?

Jerry:
Not to hijack this thread, but I am doing a bar swap on a 2011 SESG...is this TBW sensor a one time use part that needs to be replaced for the new bars??

It's not a one time use part.  Your SESG already comes with the 32310-08 sensor mentioned in the earlier post, while the standard SG gets part number 32305-08.  It has to do with internal versus external wiring.  If you aren't making a radical change to the rise and pullback, and therefore have enough wire to make the connections, you should be able to just plug and play.  If you need additional wiring for something like apes, I'm pretty sure I've seen a bar company offering extension harnesses to make the connections.

thank you ..
ok,
so I have externally mounted wires, so I'm good then?.. unless I decide to route the wires internally. then I'd need 32310-08?

That's my understanding of the situation; it's all about the wiring.
