Were I to spend that much to tell tire pressures for riding safety I'd at least want it to be able to monitor for me while riding.  A fob in my pocket doesn't do a damn bit of good for a leak happening on the highway.   Can check it in the garage with a tire gauge.  Would want active monitoring to inform me while I'm moving.

There is another thread on the site about this same product, and if I remember correctly no one admitted to owning one.  I personally made a comment similar to the one Twolane just posted, that I didn't see a burning need to have a fob in my pocket that will tell me the same thing I could determine with a handy dandy regular tire pressure gauge.  Both would require me to stop and take something out of my pocket, only one gives me a reading while I'm still sitting on the bike while the other requires getting off the bike to actually check the pressure.  Now, if they offered a full time automatic tire monitoring system with audible and visual alarm integrated into the instruments, like the one that's standard equipment on all new cars these days, it might be worth a couple hundred bucks to help identify a slowly leaking tire while riding.  But for normal tire pressure checks, a good manual gauge and getting up close and personal with my tires is my preferred method.  I don't depend on the monitor system on my car, and I wouldn't suggest doing so on a bike either.  Buy a good gauge, check your tires on a regular schedule, and while your down there look the tires over for abnormal wear or damage.  That sensor won't do that for you.

I guess I'll set off a fire storm..again. I am running "nitro" in my tires and haven't lost a pound in over a year.

Just saying....

Jerry

Your a better tire air pressure checker than me that's for sure.
I check air pressure in each bike weekly and on at least 1/2 of the bikes I don't get the gauge on correctly and loose a little bit of air.
Checking 6 front tires and 6 rear tires means I'm on the ground at an odd angle trying to get a reading.
Not sure how many pounds I have lost but have sure let a few escape while checking.
WAIT, this was about air pressure in tires RIGHT?

If this item works like similar products for the RV industry it should be reading real time and if you mount it on the bars you will have almost real time display.
I say almost because typical RV units broadcast the pressure about every 5 minutes - unless there is a pressure drop, then it is immediate.

The video below is from a tire pressure monitor I bought in July of this year. It monitors my 4 truck and 4 trailer tires. My trailer is 18,000 pounds and "had" what is known as "china bomb" tires. Tire condition is a concern  :'(

The unit will scroll between all the tires and jumps to whatever sensor broadcasts it's signal, then continue scrolling. My particular monitor also monitors temperature.

In the event of excessive pressure, pressure drop (couple of PSI) or excessive temperature it switches to the alerting position and displays as below.

3 weeks after buying my monitor I had a tire fail. The monitor alerted me when the pressure was down to about 74 psi (from 80 psi).
Gave me enough warning that I had time to find a comfortable place to pull over and change the tire.

Since it is almost real time it also saves me from having to "gauge" the tire pressure in the morning before heading out for the day

The ability to monitor a pressure drop on the road is of course a good thing.  Nothing helps with a sudden blow out.  But anything less than a sudden blow out is monitorable and is, therefore, potentially a flat at speed that could be avoided.

However.....

I don't want to rely on electronic monitoring for all pressure checks.  Not those in the garage done on a regular basis.  At those checks I want to lay a hand on a tire and eyeball things.  Bulged sidewalls or slipped cords will be missed if the only tire check is an electronic pressure monitor.  Tires need a more tactile check along with the visual.

Harley put me and many others on a panel that answers questions ranging from where do you shop to what do you buy? What new products are you interested in acquiring and how much would you pay for such a product.  A recent survey asked about a tire pressure monitoring system.  I wholeheartedly endorsed it. My guess is that it will be coming soon to your neighborhood dealer and integrated into the dash.

Real time pressure and or temp monitoring will alert you in time to get you slowed down to a reasonable speed to prevent a blowout from being catastrophic (to you , not the tire).

I'm not ready to buy a monitor, as our tires are made way better then most of the imported crap on RV's But if it was a factory , in dash display option in the future I would order it.

Same here Duane. Not buying some stick on dash mount nor pocket carried item.  But would have interest in dash mounted display on bike power.
