Garmin 665 vs 660
« on: October 24, 2010, 01:14:25 PM »

What is the difference between the Garmin Zumo 665 and 660?  All I can find is something called SBAS-WAAS on the 660 which is cheaper.  Also, the Garmin sight says these are specifically for motorcycles.  Why?  And, what's the difference between these and the Harley models?  Thanks

And How many of those POI have changed location or closed down?

That's actually a very good question.  I've been wondering if there was an updated POI of current dealership locations.

The biggest difference is one has XM (665) and the other (660) doesn't. You can see the side by side comparison here - Garmin Zumo 665 vs Garmin Zumo 660

The original poster was comparing Garmin units which do not come loaded w/H-D Dealer POI's but there is a great (updated frequently) list of them that a member of the Zumo Forum has created and maintains. As for the Moco branded Garmin's (Roadtech Zumo's) they do come pre-loaded with dealer POI's and I have only read of one update that was available for them and that was old.

I believe the Road Tech version has a 2 year warranty while the Garmin unit comes with a 1 year warranty. Also the Road Tech version does not come with a motorcycle mount, you have to purchase the mount separately. The Garmin version comes with both the Car & Motorcycle mount. Ohh and the Road Tech has Harley colors (Red & Orange) while the Garmin is just Black.

Thanks for the side by side.  I already have XM that helps.

If I am already paying for my Sirrious satellite subscription in my truck, can I use it on a new 665 also?

You'd need to buy another subscription....

So is the 660 worth the money?  I have a TomTom now.  Pretty easy to use.

Lots of people use a Tom Tom. I am not familiar with the model you have, the big difference is that the Zumo's are water proof, with big buttons so you can use them with gloves.

If your unit is not water proof just carry a Zip Lock bag with a rubber band in case it rains.

I am pretty sure the 665 comes with sirus/xm traffic & Weather Some of the pics of the 665 I have seen have the weather/radar right on the screen with the street maps while your driving but i have not had one in my hands to prove it.

For the weather feature you need to subscribe to XM with weather service. That is the only difference listed on Garmin.

The 665 is well wort the money, and the XM weather has saved more than a few rides.  You get up-to-the-minute animated radar images.  Used it in Spearfish, SD this past August and saw the storm approaching.  Not only did that storm dump 10 inches of hail n Deadwood, lightning struck and killed a biker riding through it.
