JCG, I read everything I could on the Iron Butt Association before planning my ride. You want to start many weeks in advance by getting into physical shape. Sit ups and weight lifting to strengthen your upper body are very helpful. Eating less carbs, because carbs make you tired, and drinking water instead of sodas.
Also dont forget to get your bike ready!
My certificate reads;
This is to Certify that in August of 2004, Brian Bracey foed a Harley-Davidson Screamin' Eagle Electra Glide a total of 2036 grueling miles in less than forty-eight hours starting in Sturgis, South Dekota continuing into Danville, Illinois before ending in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina while participating in the SaddleSore 2000.
The SaddleSore 2000, an extreme fide designed for an extreme rider, was conducted under very strict guidelines set forth by the Iron Butt Association. Successful finishers must complete two consecutive Iron Butt Association SaddleSore 1000's to earn this exclusive certificate of completion.
The dumb azz award as my friends call it;
Would I do it again? yes
Was it worth it? only for bragging rights
Is it grueling? Deffinately
Any way my ride was 2036 miles and was completed in 37.5 hours.
Good luck to anyone who completes any of the rides,SaddleSore1000, BunBurner1500, or the SaddleSore2000.
Next one I want to do is the Coaast to Coast in 50 hours, any takers?
