I've found that removing the headlight (5 self tappers under the chrome trim ring) makes it a lot easier to replace the fairing w/out getting the lower screws crossed etc - also gives you good leverage to get the inner nice and snug at the edges.

Works for me - plus I use the socks (over the spots) now - I have left a pair in the garage just for this purpose - how sad is that?

Installed my Speakers yesterday.
For me, it wound up being a 2 man job. I needed my son to help press the edge of the seat down and hand me screws for the rears, and hold the fairing up and out a bit for the fronts. I think the total replacement time was approximately 30 minutes.
I went through the site and "copied and pasted" tid bits of useful info to aid in this project. All relevant and all helpful. Thanks to all!!
As an aside, I called my local dealer and asked what they get for the job and the time charged. $210.00 for 3 hours labor. WOW!!!  8-)
