Thanks again all of you!
Last night we got to take the V-Rod out on a test ride with Sean. Since he's underage I had to the driving. We both love the bike. I've been a V-Rod fan ever since I rode one about 4 years ago. It was a complete turn around for me as I never thought much of a Porsche-Davidson before. But I digress.
We did some highway and that thing is scary fast. Which had Sean grinnin' ear to ear. (Uh OH!). Then we did some twisties and it handles like a dream at speed. Now I frequently ride with drill team guys so I'm used to scraping the boards in the parking lot and at speed. But that fat tire makes the V-Rod just not want to turn at slow speeds. And then once it rolls up and over on to the edge of that fatty it really wants to dive. It'll be a bit tricky for Sean to get used to but I'm sure he can. I've been working with him with his Dual Sport Honda all year and he could easily pass his test now on it, so a month or two on the V-Rod and I'm sur ehe'll be good to go.
We stopped at a parking lot and I let Sean just do one quick lap. Since there were cars in the lot and people coming in and out, plus time constraints we couldn't do more. But it was enough. He pulled out smoothly, made the tight turn and stopped easily without feeling shakey so now he knows he can handle it enough to learn to be good on it.
I take the MSF advanced course every three years and have been asked to be a teacher. So I know I can teach him well. But I'm his dad so I know someone else can teach him better. So I promise that he will take that beginner SMF course in 2011 and then we'll take the expert course with Mom in 2012.
Attached is a pic with him and me on his Silver BLUE And BLACK (

) V-Rod Chip.

Ride Safe,
JC
