Increase 96" to what size?
« on: November 06, 2010, 09:30:19 PM »

...so thinking of a project for next year. Wanted to get some feedback from my fellow site members. Looking for most bang for the $. Starting with a 96" which Big Bore size do you go to. I know the basic items AC, exhaust, PC or SERT, cams. Is there a favorite choice of big bore size? I hope this enough info to make a response. Thanks

103 with SE cast pistons is a hands down budget champion and can be made to work real well. Next step is just as reliable but a few more $$ the 107"

my friend just did this to his bike  ...he went with S&S  106 KIT  with easy start cams no  acr's  ..loves it great power band
what his reasoning  instead of 103 kit  is that  the trade in / resale  should be a lil better since the 103 is more avalable nowfrom hd   and the cost  difference between the
2 kits was mininal

Fuel Moto 107 kit has my interest these day ~106hp & 120tq for $1995 installed if you already have pipes/hi flow AC and tuning device. :2vrolijk_21:

Check it out on their website and note the power band is about perfect for a bagger.

Looks good, interesting. 107" is kind of the size I had in mind. Thinking of doing upgrade on 07,08,or,09 Fatboy next year. Looks like good HP and TQ for $ spent. Thanks

my 2 cents

I went with the 103 / 255 kit when I got my 07 .. it has been adequate , never really impressive.  I've got 25K on it .

If I was doing it again , I'd strongly consider the 107 with TW54's  ,  a bit more power, rev range and less heat ( more overlap in cams)

Would definitely consider the Axtel 107 with flat top wossners.  If you are having headwork done then you might consider doing the 20 or 30 degree pistons with it, but I would recommend flat tops if you are not getting into higher dollar headwork as squish is critical and you want to keep even compression between cylinders.

Bore to 107".
With a head that'll flow 170-5 cfm @ 10", and a 55 HPI t/body, along with the use of a Wood 408, it'll flatline torque at 120, and show 120 hp as well.
Good 2/1 will be needed, as well as being tuned correctly.
If looking for more, then up the compression, and use his 9B.
Mid-upper 120's then, and 130/130 would not be out of the question. ;)

Not planning any headwork.
