Bushtec Hitch
« on: November 15, 2010, 05:12:34 PM »

Has anyone added a Bushtec Hitch to their 2010 or 2011 CVO Ultra? If so can you post a picture? I would like to see how much of the hitch is visible w/o the chrome head and pin on it. See how ugly it is when your not pulling a trailer.

I have not yet but in talking to Andrew Preston I learned that Bushtec has a version specifically for the CVO bikes which do not have the rear bumper as do non-CVO ultras.  On my '07 I added the v-rail between the bumper and the hitch as it hung down below the bumper.  I have not seen the newer style installed but it is my understanding that it does not hang down as low and that it is pretty well tucked up in the fender and does not show.  Like you I am interested to actually see a photo and then decide which style I will put on my '11.  I can always add the v-rail and use the older style as far as I know.

Sorry, don't have a pic. but on my '10 Black SEUC you can't really tell anything is there when the receiver is taken out.  The do have some '10 pics. on their website and if you look around on the site  you can definitely find some.

The female black square tube sticks down past the fender about 1.25"..  Do a search and you will see pictures on my 10..  Hated it at first (the look) but don't notice it hanging down as much.

Hate this hitch compared to the 99-08 hitches.  It's a monstrosity compared to the older versions and the DA's at Bushtec think they have a real winner in their newest versions.     :soapbox:

HAS ANYBODY HAD ANY WARRANTY PROBLEMS WITH HARLEY? THEY SAY IF YOU ADD A TRAILER HITCH TO ANY NEW HARLEY, THE MOCO WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY. I WANT TO ADD ONE SOMETIME AFTER I GET MY NEW ULTA CLASSIC BROKE IN.   :-\

THANKS, DANNER

Almost anything you do to your bike, technically, will void your warranty.  Including pipes, tuner, etc.  It 100% comes down to your dealer.  99.99% of them make lots of $'s on mods we do to our bikes.  I have a hitch, my dealer knows it, and it was thoroughly discussed before I purchased the bike and put the hitch on.  My dealer doesn't do hitches any more but lots of dealers still install them and make a lot of money doing it.  I would not worry about warranty but would address it with your dealer first.
