I have a 2011 SE Street Glide. It has V&H Dresser Duals with CFR Slip-ons and has been dyno tuned using a SEST. I'm entertaining the idea of trying a Big City Thunder product that installs between the slip-on and the head pipe.
They claim: "The Thunder Monster baffles are designed to deepen the tone or note of the exhaust, improve the midrange performance and either keep the volume of sound that you have now or quiet the volume with our QQ Series Thunder Monster baffles."
And: "Most of our customers describe the resulting sound as about 15 to 20% quieter with the QQ Thunder Monster baffles and deeper in tone."
Install: "Slip the mufflers off, with the head pipes and heat shields still on the bike you would drill one hole in each head pipe, slip the Thunder Monster baffle in, secure it with the button head bolt that we send with them, and slip the mufflers back on. You should be good to go."
Intrigued because I don't want to start over, and also don't want to spend a ton of money on my next move. Little concerned about drilling a hole in each head pipe if I don't like the result.
If I didn't like it, next move probably would be switching to a different slip-on with different baffle options; but what about the hole in the head pipe? Could I just leave the bolt there and be good to go?
Thanks.
