Rinehart 4in mufflers dont fit headers for 3.5in mufflers
« on: November 17, 2010, 08:04:21 PM »

Well getting my exhaust installed has been a challenge but the my dealer at Fort Hood Harley has shown their usual greatness.

But I wanted everyone to know...

Parts Mgr had in stock the True Dual system with the 3.5in mufflers

He also had the new 4in mufflers and thought the two would go together.

They DON'T.

So my dealer put the full 3.5in true dual system on my bike, i get to run it this week (the weather is wonderful and i have a long ride Friday and Saturday)... then when the new 4in true dual system comes in I will have it installed, a base map with the SERPT and then a dyno in a month or so when I go in for my 5k service.

Actually they do fit but you need to be careful to have the correct part numbers.

The IN's are different 1 3/4 for stock headers and for the new True Duals 2".
OUT's can be either 3 1/2 or 4". So you can buy 1 3/4" and 3 1/2" or 4" mufflers.

Look on the Rinehart site to see the latest product numbers.

 I hope this helps.

Well that's clearer... so if you have the current 3.5 in slipons & headers and you want the 4in slipons make sure you have the right part #....

You got it. If you pay for a complete True Dual system it's $1,100 or so plus shipping.  The headers are larger (2") and so is the muffler inlets to accomodate the larger headers.

If you buy 3 1/2" or 4" mufflers you can use the stock headers (1 3/4) AND you don't need to make any ECM adjustments UNLESS you change the air cleaner and/or remove the "cats" in the headers. THEN you'll need a HD Super SERT Race Tuner OR preferrably a TTS Master Tune with new maps.

I have a set of 3 1/2" Rinehart Mufflers for sale in the parts section that will work well if you don't want to spend the extra money.

Regards

Jerry
