Front end wiggle?
« on: November 17, 2010, 10:06:47 PM »

 ??? Hello,
I have a 2006 SE ultra and I have been getting a wiggle in the front end at speed...usually at over 60mph. Any ideas of what would cause this?

Why don't you help us help you?
Is the front tire in good condition?
Is the rear tire in good condition?
Have you checked the air pressure in both?
Have you had the steering neck greased.
Have you had the fall away checked on the front end.
How many miles on the bike?
Do you have the stock rear shocks?
Have you checked the air pressure in the shocks?
Each of the above or a combination of the above can cause a wiggle.
And that is just the beginning of the reasons that could cause a wiggle.

Thanks for the reply.
Sorry!
Both tires are pretty new. Tire pressure is good. The rear shocks have been changed out to Progresives. The bike has 20,000 miles on it and the dealer said the service was done?

I had the dealler check it and they said it felt normal. I never had this feeling with my Road King. I am running the same Dunlop tire D402. I am thinking its a tire issue? Has anyone ever had an issue with this tire?

Does it do it all the time on all different road surfaces or just certain types?

:worthless:Try Metzler ME880's when it is time to replace that tire.. I have noticed a much better ride all around compared to the Dunlop 402.

Have you had anyone ride behind you to see if they can see a wobble?

Some other things you might look into checking if you havent found the issue yet.

check the support brackets under the fairing that hold the radio in place they often break.

Make sure your swing arm bolts are tight.

You might also check the front rim to be sure it is true.   Our 04 had an issue with wobble and couldnt find it until they checked the rim and it was the cause of the wobble.

Make sure your motor mounts are all good.   The dealer can do an alignment to be sure everything is straight.   Check your heim joints as well.
