If it takes a crap, maybe S&S can re-manufacture it, seeing as how they are handling all those chores for Harley-Davidson as of about 1 month ago. ;D

You might consider sending the motor to S&S and letting them upgrade it to a 117 / 124 for you.   :)   You would be MUCH better off than getting a Jim's motor.

Ditto that!  My old Zipper's 120 dusted a Jim's 131, from 3rd thru 5th, and then when I hit 6th, at around 5500, Ol' Maudie really pulled away.  WFO!  With care, of course.  ;) Later--HUBBARD

If i were to buy a Jims motor, i would send the motor to Short Block Charlie and have him bullet proof the crank, have him do his magic on the heads,,, and probably have him change out the cam to an S&S Gear Drive (640G would be my choice), SB push rods, and a set of Black Ops lifters.

I certainly read a lot of forum post of people having crank run-out problems and lifter problems with the Jims motors. I thought Jim's was famous for making 'tough cranks' what are they doing now, buying their cranks from Harley? I also read a lot of positive post so it goes both ways..

If you order a Jims Motor you can pay an extra $350 for balancing and welding the crank. They call it the "race crank". Then it is done before the motor is assembled. Jims told me that Dave Mackie does all of their head work.
No motor is bullet proof
I have a 131 and love the power. My 1st one had some issues that Jims took care of...so far the motor is running smoother and oh so sweet.

I thought Jim's calls their 120 and 131 Motors 'Race Motors'. I dont get why you would pay more $$ for a 'race crank' in a 'Race Engine'. Most people refer to a bullet proofed motor as the crank being trued, balanced and welded, Which is commonly done in Race motors.  I wonder if the new Harley 120 inch comes with a trued and welded crank?? anyone know?? :nixweiss:

You mean the JIMS 120 and 131 motor sold by the MOCO, right?  You can pay an extra fee to have JIMS welded cranks in the JIMS motors, but they don't come welded as their standard....

The MOCO 120 does not have a welded crank....

Jims and HD 120 are the only replacement motors I am aware of for the 07up 6sp bikes. It would be easy enough to make yours a 117 or 124".
