I am in process of removing the Hawg Wired Direct Connect system from mine.  I am replacing the head unit with an Alpine IDA-X100m.  Adding 2 Wet Sounds Syn micro amps and polk 6.5's in the fairing and polk 6x9 in the bag lids.  Bought the bag lids and had them paint matched from yaffe.  Hope to have everything finished this weekend.  I hope mine turns out ok!

I need some advice for the next step in my stereo upgrade. i've got the fairing packed with 4 speakers, 300 watts of Hawg Wired amps and an Alpine iDax 100m head unit (going in this weekend). Now I'm adding 6X9" speakers in the bags with the JL Audio XD200/2 amp. Does anyone have a suggestion for a great 6x9" speaker. I've shopped around locally and but no one has anything I'm considering set up for me to hear. So I'll have to rely on your advice.

I did see and hear a pair or 6x9 that I liked but they are 2 ohm. Is that an issue I wonder

I  know I very little about ohms and have no idea the benefit or damage by running the "wrong" ohms. All along I've been under the impression that I should be running only 4 ohms speakers. I see that the Infinity speakers, both Kappa and Reference, are a 2 ohm speaker. Doesn't that have a negative effect on something (amp, speaker, head unit)?

the impedance is load that the amp sees. the lower the number the larger the load. 2 ohms is ok if the amp is capable of running at that. the larger the load the more power the amp will provide. However, lower impedance = more distortion and more heat. 4ohms would be better if the amp is in the saddlebag with little air circulation.  :2vrolijk_21:

I'm not a tech or audio guy, so this website has been helpful in doing various audio mods to my bike:

http://www.bcae1.com/

The homepage has a directory on the right side of the page that is organized by subject matter; scroll down to find what you're looking for.  For example, if you are considering wiring multiple pairs of speakers, try #58 on series and parallel wiring.

I run the Infinity's also with the titian amp! Love them! Crank them! Had no problem! Previously had the Titan 6.5" speakers and was disappointed! The Infinity's are heads and tails above those! My personal experience!
