Perfect CVO Trailer
« on: November 30, 2010, 09:11:08 PM »

Is this the perfect trailer or what?  Certainly looks as though it were custom made for the 2010 FLSTE CVO in Inferno Orange.

It can be found here:  http://www.smithtrailers.com/Enclosed_Trailers/UNITED_TRAILERS/UMT_Motorcycle_Trailers.php

Nice looking trailer, but the flat nose is a show stopper. Nissan Armada & v-nose 7x14=14mpg, flat nose 7x14 =8mpg. Pays for itself in short time @$3.00 per gal

I do agree that it a great lookin' trailer!!

But....I don't think that advertizing that there are probably a couple Harleys inside is a great idea.

lose the orange and black paint scheme and throw a couple of these on it and you should be ok.

I agree. While I would love to put a big Harley-Davidson decal on the side or back door of my trailer, I refrain due to the advertising of what might be inside. I'd hate to lose a trailer AND a bike. Or have a busted up trailer and no bike. Love the idea of the hazardous waste.

Either that or Put a big picture of a Honda 250 Rebel on the side, then nobody will mess with the trailer.

Me personally... I don't want a trailer that looks too fancy. Plain white with steel wheels, and no fancy trim. Hell, I'd make a point to leave it dirty to... and it would draw no unwanted attention.

That is a great looking trailer.

I am going to wave the BS flag here.  You/we all ride the flashiest HD's the Moco makes and now you worry about them because the trailer is nice looking?

I was thinking I would spray paint my CVO with some leftover flat black, put Yamaha stickers on it, and put some oil underneath it so it does not draw to much attention.

I am just pokin' some fun...I realize how easy it would be for a thief to hook up to a trailer and be gone with it and all it's contents.

That's why, if I was a thief I would always still the ratty trailers.  You know the best stuff is in them. :huepfenlol2:

I'm very interested in the mileage difference between the types of trailer.
Were your results done with the same amount of weight in the trailers, basically
over the same amount of miles driven?  I always thought you would get a little
better mileage with a v-nose, but 75%, thats terrific!

I have a flat front Pace, pulled it with wifes Escalade to Sturgis this year, 4186 miles round trip, Averaged 13.1 for the trip. Not sure why you would loose 5 mpg as you say, I have pulled a v-nose before, same size, saw no difference in mileage, on our tow vehicle, Yours must be different.
Could be your Jap truck rebelling about pulling American Bikes?

Guys, I'm a trailer dealer. A v-nose WILL pull easier than flat, but it's not as dramatic as suggested. I pull them all, V,flat and slightly rounded. On an 8-1/2' wide the V makes way more difference than on a 6' wide as there is a lot more square footage of trailer on the 8. Also, the 8 is a longer V, usually 5', compared to a 1-1/2' V on a 6' wide. As a rule of thumb, if we can fit a guy's needs with a V-nose, we try that first as it really is the best bang for the buck, but if not, go rounded like the Haulmark Transport series. Flat front like Well's Cargo really do suck for towability, unless behind a M/H.

Better yet, I owned a building in a questionable neighbor hood and post signs on the windows,

BEWARE OF POISINOUS SNAKES and had graphics of a snake biting someone on  the signs as well.

One night the alarm went off during a storm and when the police arrived they would not enter the building for fear of the sign being real.  No one had broken in, alarm went off in the storm.
