2000 Triple Red Paint
« on: December 06, 2010, 10:21:30 PM »

I am going to be painting some handlebars, and I was wondering if someone has come up with a good match for any of the colors on the triple red SE Road Glide, using spray cans from like Pep Boys, or O'Reillys.  For example, like Camry Red, or Tahoe burgundy.   I don't want to buy an $80 pint of paint, clear, etc. from Harley for this job.  I've done great work on handlebars with spray cans.

Any paint matches are appreciated.

Gary, unlike later years the colors on our bikes weren't new nor specific to the CVO bikes.  The mix of them was unique, but not the colors themselves.

The darkest color is what Harley called Midnight Red.  It's the same color that was the 95th anniversary color and is in the paint catalogs for paint stores to mix.

The medium color is Luxury Rich Red.  Was a common color on many years and models of bikes.  Was messing around one day and found that Duplicolor Medium Garnet Red is a pretty close match.

The brightest color was called Tudor Red.  It was only a trim and strip color.  Have never seen a code for it.

I'm not sure about these numbers  :nixweiss: so maybe Don can help us out on this .......  I purchased the touch-up kit from American Harley in Niagara Falls (P/N 93953) and on each of the little bottles there is a code #.  This is the part I'm not sure of weather these numbers are the actual paint codes....  Midnight Red ---98600BX....  Luxury Rich Red---98601ZQ...  andTudor Red---37H050  .  Those are the numbers on the side of the touch-up paint.

No such luck Marty.  Those numbers aren't paint codes nor even Dupont part numbers.  Just Harley part numbers for the individual colors.  You can get them in the three pack as you have them or buy them individually.
